The Client
Dr. Sara Cordes recently joined the faculty at Boston College as an assistant professor of psychology where she has set up the Infant and Child Cognition Laboratory. Research in her lab centers upon understanding the role of basic cognitive and social factors in the development of quantity concepts.
The Website Requirements Driving the Design
The Laboratory's research also depends heavily upon community participation from parents of infants and children, the actual necessary subjects of the research. Thus the laboratory website had to convey information to parents of the community about how the research was conducted, what the actual experience of participating would be like and reassure and encourage participation in furthering this scientific research.
Using photography of actual participants in an opening slideshow conveys a comfortable, happy experience in a relaxed, accessible environment. The website provides overview information but also allows for in-depth access to previous studies done by Dr. Cordes and others.
